Position Summary

Title: Senior Security Automation Engineer

Summary:

  • We are seeking a Senior Security Automation Engineer to design, build, and scale enterprise-grade security automation that reduces manual effort, suppresses operational noise, and accelerates cyber defense outcomes.
  • This role focuses on hands-on automation engineering across identity, endpoint, cloud, network, and data security domains.
  • The successful candidate will build safe, auditable, and production-ready automation workflows that integrate across security platforms and enterprise systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement security automation workflows that reduce manual intervention across security domains.
  • Build integrations using APIs and services to execute guardrail-enforced security actions.
  • Develop automation that operationalizes detection, enrichment, suppression, and containment workflows.
  • Extend automation into enterprise workflow systems where orchestration or approvals are required.
  • Implement safety controls including:
    1. Kill switches
    2. Dry-run and test modes
    3. Time-limited actions
    4. Staged deployments (development, testing, production)
  • Ensure observability and auditability by logging automation actions with correlation identifiers.
  • Create reusable automation patterns, connectors, and frameworks that scale across teams.
  • Collaborate with security engineers, platform engineers, and data scientists to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote automation best practices.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 6+ years of experience in security engineering or security automation.
  • Strong experience building production-grade automation systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, PowerShell, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of:
    1. Security operations workflows
    2. Alert enrichment and suppression
    3. Containment and response patterns
  • Experience working with APIs, services, and distributed systems.
  • Ability to design automation that is safe, explainable, and auditable.

Preferred:

  • Experience integrating automation across IAM, endpoint, cloud, network, and data platforms.
  • Familiarity with workflow or orchestration platforms (e.g., ITSM, ticketing, or orchestration engines).
  • Experience designing rollback, TTL, and staged enforcement models.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted workflows where automation consumes decision outputs.
  • Experience building dashboards or metrics for automation outcomes.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Delivery of production-ready automation that measurably reduces analyst workload.
  • Suppression of alert and ticket noise through effective automation patterns.
  • Reusable automation frameworks adopted across multiple security domains.
  • Automation actions that are trusted due to strong logging, safety controls, and transparency.
  • Recognition as a senior engineer who enables scalable, enterprise-safe automation.
