Title: Mechanical Designer/Engineer
Summary:
- The Client is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Design to join our Surgical R&D team in Lake Forest, CA.
- You will be responsible for development of components in a sub-system dictated by R&D as well as performing work and lead technical support staff for completing projects or tasks requested from Simulation and Manufacturing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assure project progress, resolves technical issues, and escalates when needed.
- Design, develop, and document plastic, die cast, sheet metal, and machine components. and assemblies utilizing Creo Parametric 3D CAD software.
- Create and manage products or sub-system’s top-down skeleton level architecture to ensure module interfaces and master model is in alignment with Alcon development process.
- Generating detailed fabrication drawings utilizing GD&T and mechanical tolerance analysis.
- Recommends fabrication and additive manufacturing processes to meet R&D needs, specifically plastic, die casting, sheet metal, and machine component design.
- Develop a network of external suppliers and internal resources within the department and across functions.
- Perform fitment and DFM/A checks.
- Ensures the integrity and quality of the Group’s output by establishing, maintaining, and enforcing Alcon standards, processes & procedures.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement in group procedures, and leads initiatives aimed at continual improvement in efficiency & effectiveness of the group.
- Ensures engineering and company procedures are followed.
- Mentors, develops, and trains engineers and group personnel in the proper use of Creo Parametric CAD software and top-down design and master model methodologies.
